As you likely know, we live a tiny lifestyle — literally! Our home is about 250 square feet, so we really don’t have room for much baby stuff. We have consulted with our friends on the baby essentials and because we are on the older side, we’ve been the beneficiary of much of their baby gear!
However, we know that friends and family are still wanting to help and we greatly appreciate your generosity and support. Two tangible ways to support the next steps of this journey include:
Reducing our environmental footprint is a big reason why we embraced tiny living and cloth diapering seems inline with our values and also maybe a bit messy and time consuming as new parents! Especially knowing newborns can go through 12 diapers a day!
One of our wise community members proposed we try a local cloth diaper laundering service. She explained that she was gifted this service with her first baby many moons ago and it was one of the most helpful gifts as a new mom. The service provides us with all the cloth diapers and inserts on a weekly basis and washes and returns them to us for the next week.
The cost is $35 per week.
Doulas are non-clinical caregivers who provide physical, emotional and informational support to pregnant people and their partners before, during and after childbirth. Think of it as a childbirth coach! Studies have shown that women who use doulas are 2x less likely to have a birth complication, spend 25% less time in labor, and have more success with breastfeeding.
We found a local doula team that will provide us 24/7 phone support during our pregnancy, meet with us 3× during pregnancy, provide unlimited support during our labor and birth (no matter how long our labor is), and provide breastfeeding consultations with their lactation expert postpartum.
The cost of this package is $1,100.
